Remove the return spring from the lever.
Loosen the lock nut on the adjusting rod.
Adjust to give 1/16″ (1.5mm) free movement of the lever.
These are not avalible any more.
There are two types.
(51 to 54) are 1-11/16″ long,
(54 to 56) are 2-5/16″ long.

Although the club does not stock them, they are avalible on line.
These were also used on Healey100, Riley RM, Jowett Javelin and Jupiter
and Rover P5. These are handed because of the bleed nipple.

These are not available anywhere. Some people have used 100E rubbers and cut them to suit a Mk1.
5/16 UNF X 24 teeth per inch Domed fitted with a fiber washer.
5/16 UNC 18 Teeth per inch X 5/8 long 12off
3/8″ UNF 24 teeth per inch
The carburettors are the same, but the jets are not. You’d need to check the workshop manual.
These are very hard to find but sometimes come up on ebay.
Consul senders were made by AC and Zephyr made by Smiths.
Smith senders cannot be used with an AC dash Gauge & vice a versa.
There are two tapped holes near the thermostat housing.
The thread is 3/8″ NTP 18 Teeth Per Inch, either one can be used to fit a sensor directly or use an adaptor with a small hole for an electric sensor.
Be aware that 3/8″ BSP is nearly the same but has 19 Teeth Per Inch.
